レクサスは3月7日、スイスで開幕したジュネーブモーターショー2017において、新型『L!
S』のハイブリッド車、「LS500h」を初公開した。

新型LS500hには、「マルチステージハイブリッド」を搭載。2GR-FXS型3.5リットルV型6気筒ガソリンエンジンは、最大出力300hp、最大トルク35.7kgmを発生。モーターと合わせたシステム全体で、360hpのパワーを引き出す。

また、新型LS500hには、レクサスのフラッグシップにふさわしい最先端の予防安全パッケージを搭載。車両への追突、対歩行者、走路逸脱、交差点（出会い頭衝突）という、深刻な事故につながる4つの事故形態をカバー。さらに、危険な状態に近づく前の注意喚起の領域でのドライバーへの情報提供から、衝突回避の領域における自動操舵を利用した操舵回避まで、事故の防止を支援する新機能を採用する。
